The Digital Condition: an informal discussion group

The Digital Condition is an open discussion group, organised by Mark Carrigan and Milan Stürmer, building on last year’s experimental project to inquire about the digitalised experience of the pandemic. For each meeting there will be a short article and a series of questions posed in advance, with the session being an open forum for raising and reflecting on related issues.

Participants are encouraged to write short reflections for the CPGJ blog but these are entirely optional.

Meeting 1: Friday November 6th, 4pm to 5pm GMT
You already live in quarantine, by Ian Bogost

  1. How is the experience of social distancing shaped by class, gender and race?
  2. In what ways does the social experience of this pandemic differ from past pandemics?
  3. How might these experiences transform understanding of public/private and life/work?
  4. What role has boredom played in people’s experience of the pandemic.

If you would like to participate, please get in touch to be added to a mailing list for the group. Readings, questions and joining details will be distributed via e-mail in advance of each session.
