The research methods community have been active in recent months, releasing a range of open resources to help researchers navigate the enormous constraints which the lockdown and social distancing have entailed for those undertaking fieldwork involving contact. Here are some of the highlights:
- Deborah Lupton has crowd sourced a document on doing fieldwork in a pandemic and produced a YouTube series introducing innovative methods
- The International Journal of Social Research Methodology’s blog have published an ongoing series on the methodological challenges posed by the pandemic.
- The LSE Digital Ethnography Collective’s reading list is an incredibly helpful resource for planning fieldwork in a pandemic
- The National Centre for Research Methods have released a range of resources for teaching research methods online
- The Goldsmiths Methods Lab have compiled a range of resources, including an excellent reading list
